What we believe

A brief summary of the Statement of Faith for Christian Baptist Church.

God

We believe there is one true and living God who is the Creator of all things. He is holy and just, loving and faithful. He made us to know him, to walk with him, and to live under his good and rightful authority. He exists forever as God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit — the Trinity.

God the Father

We believe God the Father is the loving Creator and sustainer of all things. He rules with wisdom and righteousness, and his purposes cannot be defeated or stopped. In love, he sent his Son for our salvation and draws people to himself by the work of the Holy Spirit. As Father, he calls us into relationship, invites our trust, and disciplines his children for their good and his glory.

Jesus the Son

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who is fully God and fully man. Along with the Father, he created all things. He lived the life of perfect obedience we could never live. He willingly died on the cross in our place, bearing the judgement our sin deserved. He rose bodily from the dead, defeating sin and death, and he now reigns as Lord.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God and is given to every believer. Along with the Father and the Son, he was active in creation. He brings conviction, comfort, guidance, and power for holy living. He grows faith, produces spiritual fruit, and equips believers to serve God and others.

Humanity

We believe every person is created in the image of God and has deep worth and dignity. We believe that sin is real and that all people are sinners. Sin has broken our relationship with God and it affects every part of life for every person. Left to ourselves, we cannot fix this separation.

Salvation

We believe salvation is entirely by God’s grace. It cannot be earned or achieved. We are saved by turning from sin and trusting in Jesus alone. This faith itself is a gift from God, drawing us into new life with him. Salvation leads to forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and a transformed life that begins now and lasts forever.

The Bible

We believe the Bible — in all of its 66 books — is the inspired Word of God. It is true, trustworthy, and authoritative. It reveals who God is, who we are, and how we are called to live. Scripture is our final authority for faith and life.

The Church

We believe the Church is the body of Christ. It is not a building, but a redeemed people. The Church exists to worship God, make disciples, care for one another, and bear witness to the gospel in the world. Baptism and the Lord’s Table are gifts Jesus gave to his Church as visible expressions of faith and obedience.

The Christian Life

We believe following Jesus is a lifelong journey of repentance, faith, and growth. Christians are called to live holy, humble, and loving lives. We can’t do this by our own strength, but by God’s grace. Obedience does not earn salvation; it flows from it. Salvation is a free gift by the grace of God.

The Future

We believe Jesus will return personally and visibly. God will judge all people with justice and mercy. Evil will be finally defeated. Those who belong to Christ will enjoy eternal life with him, and those who reject him will face eternal judgement and separation. God will make all things new.
